 Begg of Ayr, Scotland has long been regarded as the finest maker of woven cashmere scarves anywhere in the world. Though many shops offer Begg, it is the rare one which sells the top-of-the-line Arran. Even fewer offer the more substantial 14" x 72" size, opting instead for the much smaller 11.8" x 60" cheaper version. We carry only the larger scarf size in addition to the double-size stoles and quadruple-size throws. Light colors, due to additional handling, are more expensive.

We are also please that we can now offer a small range of custom-made silk formal scarves and reversible cashmere & silk scarves created right here in our own studios.

Caveat Emptor: WHY IS OUR BEGG MORE EXPENSIVE????
Pay careful attention to what you are buying. Most shops carry the skimpy size: 11.8" x 59". These are not really sufficient for the purpose.
Our Begg Cashmere scarves are the ideal size: 14" x 72" - or about 1 1/2 times the size of the small one.
Caveat Emptor: WHY ARE LIGHT COLORS MORE EXPENSIVE?
The Dark Cashmere colors can be made by dying natural or grey cashmere. The dyes are strong enough to prevail. In order to make the light colors,
the cashmere used is the rarest and most precious "white" cashmere - a very delicate and expensive fiber.

This is a CustomShirt1 first!

We've gotten numerous requests for Cashmere & Silk scarves with contrasting silk backings. Couldn't find any we really liked so ... we decided to take the plunge and make them right here in our Custom Studio.

This year we're offering a Mink Brown Heather Chevron and Navy Heather Chevron in 51% Cashmere/49% Silk, woven in Italy. These are available with your choice of 100% Silk reverse colors as shown in the charts.

No lightweight, skimpy numbers these! The scarves measure 14" x 72" and weigh more than a half pound each. For those interested, we can also make Stole Size (28" x 72"). Simply order two and send me an email indicating that you want the Stole size.

In contrast to pure cashmere, the Cashmere/Silk blend is known for its durability and, with proper care, should last a lifetime. Not shown in the charts is Black Charmeuse, always available for those who prefer a more formal backing.

Hand fringed scarf of 100% Silk Paisley white jacquard woven in Italy. Scarf created in the renowned Kabbaz-Kelly & Sons custom studios in East Hampton, New York.

In keeping with formal tradition, this scarf is normally cut 12" wide x 72" long. However, because these are made one-at-a-time, they can be made 14"x72". In addition, you can commission yours to be made with or without the self-fringing. These can also be cut in Stole Size of 22"x72".
