Zimmerli of Switzerland Underwear is - quite simply - the
World's Finest underwear. Nothing comes even remotely close. Yes, people mention Hanro ... and sometimes even
Sunspel. But, take it from me. I've been selling them for more
than 30 years. I've been wearing Zimmerli for all but 2 days of those 30
years. One was the day I tried modern Hanro ... nice try, but No Thanks.
I want mine actually made in Switzerland, not just named "So-and-So of Switzerland"
and being part of a Jockey underwear licensing conglomerate. The
other was the day I tried Sunspel. Yes, Sunspel is half the price of
Zimmerli ... but if I wanted Fruit-of-the-Loom, I could get it for three
bucks. Hanro "of Switzerland" was formerly an able competitor. However,
their offerings, now made in non-Swiss countries, are primarily aimed at
the mass market and "old-world quality" is a thing of bygone days. |

So why is Zimmerli so darn good? I could try the "They're like
gossamer wings upon the gentle night breeze" approach, but if you
wanted poetry you wouldn't be at this site. I could say that the cotton
lisle is "excellent", the knitting "superb", and the
sewing "beyond compare" ... but since I just heard a Honda
described as excellent, KFC wings as beyond compare, and Pizza Hut as
superb - you get my drift.
Superlatives
are somewhat overworked in this new Millennium. Suffice it to say that you
won't be disappointed. If you have never worn Zimmerli, you are in for a
treat. If you have, maybe you could e-mail me some suggestions as to how
to describe the feeling!

items. If we happen to sell out of a particular size on an item, it comes in by air from the Swiss warehouse each and every
week on Tuesday and/or Thursday.

22,000 pairs
from England, Italy, and Switzerland in stock - and Begg Scottish Cashmere
Scarves, the World's finest. We have socks from Marcoliani Milano,
Zimmerli of Switzerland, Bresciani ... and many of the old Pantherellas
from before the new owners started their bean-counting.
We don't have a fancy Flash e-commerce site
- we leave that to those who sell hundreds of brands and specialize in
none. For us, offering only the best and knowing our merchandise

That's
most of us there in the photo pretending to cut custom shirts. (Tucker's only 5 months old and wasn't
yet born
at picture time.) But if you write or call, rest assured that one of us
will be on the other end answering you. We're here Monday through Saturday from 7am
until 9pm EST. Wednesdays we usually close at 12:00 noon to go and visit clients in
Manhattan.
FLASH: NEWS UPDATE
Amagansett, New York Tucker is now seven
months old and seems to have found a niche. We've put him in charge of
answering e-mails and he's already hard at work. That's him below left
there at his workstation. By the way, what we're most known for is our fine
custom shirts ... the 10-15 we've been hand-making each week from
wonderful Swiss and Italian high-count cottons since 1937. Shown below
right are a
few old sample shirts. Thankfully we're better shirtmakers than
photographers!
